Apparently hotels adjust published rates based on who is looking. My girlfriend and I was looking for a hotel in Reno. At exactly the same time – she was getting a lower rate on her laptop than I on mine. I tried refreshing the page and rerunning the search to get the same rate – no luck. Then I opened the same site in an incognito window and sure enough – I get the same rate as she does (see screenshot).
